Can I get a discount on my session?
I’m sure you’ve seen some photographers advertising their services for SUPER cheap and, if they’re offering the quality artwork that you want, great! Because of the personal & custom nature of our approach to your portraits, we do not offer discounts on sessions, except for the occasional promotional offers we may run throughout the year. We DO NOT burn through a shoot with a bunch of traditional, restrictive poses and then send you on your way. We DO NOT fire off a bunch of random shots during our session and hope for the best. We DO NOT just come home from your session and dump all of the photos we took on disc and drop it in the mail.
We are full-time professionals who pay all of the appropriate taxes, licensing fees and insurance premiums necessary to operate a business. We also belong to professional photography organizations and continually strive to educate ourselves regarding current techniques and products so that we can better serve our clients. We are a custom photography studio–from the sessions themselves to the processing of the images and the products we create for each client. Each image is given individual attention to ensure it’s best enhancement. Each product is crafted by professional print artisans, using printers that have been properly calibrated for accuracy and consistency in color.
In order to continue to give each client the personal attention and custom service that we offer, we only accept a limited number of sessions each week. Because of this, we are often booked several weeks out.
When should I schedule my maternity session?
You should schedule your session for a time when you feel great about your shape! Most women prefer to do their maternity sessions about four to six weeks before they are due.
When should I schedule my newborn’s session?
As a general rule, newborns should be photographed within the first 10 days of birth–but the sooner the better. In the first few days, Baby will usually sleep as long as he’s warm, dry & has a full tummy. Keep in mind that we typically book at least three weeks out so we recommend that you tentatively schedule your session at least a month before you are due. This allows us to leave a bit of open room around your due date so we can fit you and Baby in when the time comes.
When should I schedule my Senior session?
The sooner the better. Most students prefer to have their Senior portraits taken the summer before their Senior year starts, but we are happy to do them at any time of the year.
When should I schedule my engagement session?
Most couples prefer to do the session at least three to four months prior to the wedding. If you plan to order Save-the-Date cards or magnets, we recommend scheduling the session for at least three weeks before you plan to mail them.
Can we bring our dog to our session?
Absolutely! If you plan to bring your pet along, remember to bring someone who can care for him when we’re doing shots that don’t include him. Also remember to bring a leash, some water and waste bags.
What should I wear during our session?
•Most importantly, wear anything you feel comfortable in and love. Solid colors work best; especially grays, dark colors & earthy tones. Avoid solid white tops (they can wash out your skin) and bright pinks, oranges or yellows.
•Wear what fits your current style. Avoid patterns, stripes and plaids unless they truly fit your personality.
•Women should select v-necks, squarenecks, turtlenecks or deep scoop necks. Long-sleeves tend to be the most flattering but, since your session might be outdoors, they might not always be comfortable. Women should avoid sleeveless tops unless they absolutely LOVE their arms.
•For maternity sessions, go for clingy–but not necessarily tight–fabrics with a little stretch. Also grab one of your husband’s big, white, button-down shirts. Any shirt or cardigan that opens down the front works well for showing off your belly.
•Men should wear jeans, khakis or dark colored pants. Be prepared with a regular white or black crew-neck t-shirt–Wear it under a crew- or V-neck top!
•Refrain from wearing any clothing that displays large logos or text as these can be very distracting in a photograph.
•If you normally prefer jeans, wear those. If you like to dress up, do that! It’s important that you look like YOU and are comfortable.
Where will the session be done?
We prefer to shoot most sessions outdoors in the location of your choice. We suggest some place that is important to you–be it a park, a lake or your own backyard! For families, we encourage you to think of places you like to visit as a family–the kid’s favorite park, the lake where they like to fish or even your kitchen where you like to make pancakes every Saturday morning! For engagement photos, let’s shoot where you met, had your first date, got engaged, etc. If you prefer, maternity & newborn sessions can be done in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Since these sessions are about family and young children are often involved, we feel that doing the session in your home (instead of a studio) provides the most relaxing atmosphere. It’s also useful if a child becomes restless and needs a break or snack.
What if the weather is bad?
Depending on the conditions of the weather and where we’re scheduled to shoot, we may still be able to shoot outdoors. If we absolutely cannot work around the weather, we’ll reschedule the session for a later date.
How far will you travel for a session?
Our session fees include travel up to 250 miles (one way) from Indianapolis, IN (but areas greater than 50 miles from Noblesville may require a longer wait for an available session). Travel outside of this area is also available for an additional travel fee. Please contact us with your location and we can work out the details.
When do I pay for my session? What types of payment do you accept?
The creation fee is due in full at the time of booking. We accept cash, check, money order or a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express). Once we determine that we are the right photographers for you, we’ll schedule a date & time for the session and mail you a contract. Simply sign the contract and return it in the envelope provided.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?
We understand that sometimes the unexpected happens–especially when children are involved. The creation fee is refundable no later than 24 hours prior to your session. Within 24 hours of your session, the session may only be rescheduled. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us ASAP. The creation fee is good for one year following receipt.
What if I want an image retouched or a color image made black and white?
Our artists have more than 10 years of experience with digital photo retouching and enhancement. Any image from our session ordered as a print or selected to go in an album will be retouched. All images are captured in color and may be converted to black and white. There is no additional charge for any of these services.
What if I don’t like my portraits?
We guarantee your satisfaction with our session. If you are unsatisfied with your portraits, we will reshoot your photos for free. You must let us know that you are unhappy when you see your proofs. Once you accept prints or additional products, your session cannot be reshot nor your payment refunded. If you decide to reshoot a session, the original session is void and no prints or other products may be ordered from it unless you pay a full creation fee for the reshoot.
When will I get to view my images?
Following your portrait session, we will schedule a proofing session in your home. This typically takes place within approximately 7-14 days of your session. We’ll sit down with you and go over each image from your session. We’ll also assist you in deciding which images & products work best in your home. Please make sure all important decision-makers are available for this appointment.
When will I receive my order?
One of our favorite moments is the excitement and joy our clients express once they receive their artwork! While we want to get your order to you as quickly as possible, we also pride ourselves in delivering quality pieces to every client. On average, our clients have their finished products about 3-5 weeks after we receive their final payment. If you need products sooner, please let us when you place your order so that we can make arrangements to accommodate you. Please understand that, in some cases, rush fees may apply due to additional lab fees.
Can I have my digital files?
Absolutely! For portrait sessions, collections which include digital files begin at $500.
We also provide complimentary profile images to every client. Profile images have been resized and optimized for sharing via Facebook, Twitter and email. We provide a profile image for each image you purchase as a print, fine art product or high-resolution digital file. For instance, if you purchase a wall storyboard, you’ll also get a profile image for each image included in the storyboard.
