I arrived in Springfield around 4:40pm and t’s about 102 degrees. There are a few restaurants that deliver to the hotel room. After 3 days of driving and this ridiculous heat, I think I’m going to take them up on that offer.

We’re in the home stretch tomorrow! I’ll be so glad to be in Indiana and done with these 8-9 hour shifts of driving. How do truckers do it!?!

Arrived in Amarillo around 4pm. It is so hot! Luckily there is a diner next to the hotel so I won’t have to go far for dinner. Kitty did much better today (only meowed for 2 hours) and no more messes in his crate. Of course, that’s probably because he didn’t eat much last night. I’m hoping tonight he has a better appetite. He has never been a fan of cross-country trips. I wish I could stop and take photos along the way but that doesn’t work well in this sweltering heat when you have a cat in the car. So we’re just keeping on the road steadily.

We hit the road around 6am and arrived in Flagstaff, AZ around 1:30pm. It’s raining here and Orbitz lied to me about our hotel check-in time. The email said 1pm but, as it turns out, it’s 3pm (which is typically for most hotels, I know). So Kitty and I sat in the car in the hotel parking lot for an hour-and-a-half while we waited to check-in. Booo! He did so well (aside from meowing for the first 3 hours of the trip) but, sometime between me checking-in and returning to the car to take him upstairs and release him from his carrier, he had to poop. Nothing like the smell of cat poop in an enclosed car! Double-boo!

Off to bed early–getting up with the sun for Day 2! =)
